The Art Market 2025

The global art market grew again in 2025. Total sales rose 4% to $59.6B, marking a return to growth after two years of contraction—though the market still sits below its 2022 peak.

Art Basel & UBS Art Market Report remains the best attempt we have at aggregating global art market data.

But there’s an important caveat: Many of the largest galleries Gagosian, Pace Gallery, Hauser & Wirth, and David Zwirner—don’t report their numbers.

That means some of the biggest transactions in the art world never make it into the dataset.

Even so, as someone who has occasionally had the privilege of seeing behind the curtain at these galleries, this is still my favorite annual market report.
